Dwayne Wade Stood Up To Idiots Who Tried To Bash his Son for wearing Fake nails!
Future Hall of fame basketball player Dwayne Wade has shown multiple times how great a father he is. The former Miami heat star did so again this weekend when he used twitter to stand up for his son Zion.
Wade’s wife Gabrielle Union had shared a thanksgiving photo of herself, the couple’s daughter, and Wade’s son Zion. In the photo, Zion can be seen wearing a crop top shirt and fake nails.
The couple has never openly explained the younger wade’s sexuality. However, Union did attend Miami’s pride parade with Zion and got backlash for that as well.
After the photo was shared a few haters had some negative things to say about Zion’s outfit and nails. Some people urged the Wades to encourage the boy to “man up”.
After seeing the nasty comments Daddy wade came to his son’s defense in a series of tweets. In one tweet Wade Said:
“I’ve seen some post-thanksgiving hate on social about my family photo. Stupidity is apart of this world we live in—so I get it. But here’s the thing—I’ve been chosen to lead my family not y’all. So we will continue to be us and support each other with pride, love & a smile!”
The fact that he used pride to describe how the family supports each other is probably not coincidental. Furthermore, Dwayne Wade being so supportive of his son’s lifestyle is encouraging especially from a man with his status. Even more, because Wade is a black man makes this support that much more important. The black community has a long history of its men being told to “man up” and using the word gay as a synonym to bad.
Hence, Maybe if people see more “leaders embracing the idea of letting children live their owns truths it will become the new norm. In addition to standing up for his son this week, Wade had to speak out on his wife’s behalf after she was fired from Americas got talent.
