Escaped Pennsylvania Killer Danelo Cavalcante abandoned the van that was spotted in the area Saturday night, according to state police. Troopers canvassed the area Sunday morning and found the vehicle in a field near an East Nantmeal Township farm.

Police believe Cavalcante dumped the van because it ran out of gas. Police are asking residents to secure their cars and property because they are concerned he will try to steal another car. The 34-year-old escaped from Chester County Prison while awaiting transfer to state prison after being convicted in 2021 of fatally stabbing his ex-girlfriend.
Hundreds of law enforcement officers have been swarming an extreme southern part of Chester County since Cavalcante escaped from the prison on Aug. 31. Cavalcante is considered dangerous, and authorities have a reward of up to $20,000 for information leading to his arrest.
Cavalcante is believed to have been in Phoenixville Sunday night, where he arrived at the door of a former work associate but did not get an answer. He was also spotted at the Triple Fresh Market and Catering in Spring City.
Police say he bought items but left them in a vehicle that was not his. Cavalcante is a 5-foot-tall man who weighs 120 pounds. He speaks Portuguese, Spanish, and some English. He is a Brazilian citizen who has lived in the United States for four years.
