Euphoria Star Joins Chorus of Voices Demanding Peace in NYC Protest
Actress Hunter Schafer, from “Euphoria,” stood with a crowd at NBC studios on Wednesday. The protest, by Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP), demanded peace in Israel and Palestine.
The demonstration was timed to coincide with President Biden’s appearance on “Late Night with Seth Meyers.” The goal was to get more attention for the call for a stronger response from the administration. Chants like “Free Palestine,” “End the occupation,” and “Biden, act now” resonated through the night.
Hunter Schafer was one of the 50 people arrested for protesting in support of Palestine with the Jewish Voice For Peace organization in New York.

Schafer played Jules in “Euphoria.” She held a sign that said “Jews against Zionism” and wore a Palestinian keffiyeh. Schafer stands for social justice and human rights. Her presence supported many voices for peace.
The police could not agree with the protestors. The protestors were firm in their demands. The police had to step in. Zip-tie cuffs became a symbol of the evening as arrests started. Schafer and other important JVP members were among the first people detained.
The protestors were charged with minor offenses. They were later released. They joined a global movement demanding peace in the region. This movement is growing. The recent surge in violence, taking a heavy toll on both sides, has ignited a global debate with deeply entrenched opinions.
JVP is a Jewish-led group that opposes the mainstream view. They call themselves “anti-Zionist” because they reject the idea of a Jewish state in historical Palestine. They believe Zionism oppresses people. They support Palestinian rights by promoting the BDS movement.
“Inspired by our Jewish traditions, we strive for justice, which is integral to our own liberation,” proclaims JVP’s website. “We envision Jewish communities that understand that Judaism and Zionism are not synonymous.”
Many in the Jewish community strongly support Israel and Zionism, not embracing JVP’s stance. JVP has faced accusations of anti-Semitism and undermining Israel’s right to exist. This has made the dialogue more complex.
The Israeli-Palestinian conflict remains a sensitive issue with no easy answers. Critical analysis of information from various sources and a consideration of diverse perspectives are crucial to navigate this intricate and tragic situation.
