Recently, ex-Rockstar Games developer Obbe Vermeij took to sharing his insights regarding the alleged upcoming game Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6). To start off, the developer was associated with a few major GTA series of titles, while GTA 6 might not be “wildly different” compared to its previous installment of GTA 5. These comments were quite mixed, creating feelings in the minds of fans desperate for the next version of the iconic franchise.
Vermeij merely warned, some fans may be disappointed with the game simply because their expectations are ridiculously high. All everybody seems to be talking about, what fresh revolutionary changes GTA 6 will bring to the table and very often, how it’s going to change the world. According to Vermeij,
“it’s still going to be the best game out there,”
though some people may experience a bit of a letdown at first.
He was still optimistic, as during that reveal trailer, the overall quality of the game really pushed some technical boundaries. For Vermeij, one of the truly technical standouts of the game was all the detailed animation in the beach scene. Such tech improvements may foreshadow a really polished, immersive experience—even if the central mechanics of the game might feel pretty familiar to long-time players.
Drawing on a decade’s worth of experience at Rockstar Games, Vermeij reassured fans that his perspective was based on a decade’s worth of first-hand understanding of how things work in development. He prefaced that he has no inside information on the specifics of GTA 6, but he is offering purely his opinion as an informed outsider.
And if Vermeij was optimistic, it was because he strongly believed that the setting fit agreeably within the legacy of the GTA series. He was confident from the outset that—once players had finished grousing about this or that—its execution and its vivid, richly realized world would shine through.
