Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR and future Hall of Famer Antonio Brown vented online and addressed issues that he’s dealing with personally, reported Fansided. Recently, Brown has come out and announced his retirement. However, many believe it was due to his lack of options not returning because he genuinely wanted to. As matter of fact, he recently plead his case to Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones asking him to call and potentially sign him, according to the Daily Loud. While bargaining for a future in the NFL after his last meltdown, it’s safe to say there won’t be many other opportunities knocking at Brown’s door.

Throughout his statement of “regret,” many believe he would apologize for his laundry list of unacceptable behavior. However, he actually doubled down and found a way to praise himself in most of his statement. Now, acknowledging his greatness and understanding he’s arguably a top 10 wide receiver of all time. There’s still a professional manner many must obey and follow on a daily routine. Brown believed he was bigger than life and arguably at one point he may have been but that doesn’t subject anyone to be above public critique. In fact, in his statement, he refers to his greatness on the field as many would consider them, “watching the Beatles or Jesus perform live.”
Can AB Still Prove to be Productive in the NFL?
In his final NFL season (2021), Brown played in seven games and accumulated 42 receptions for 545 yards and four touchdowns, per Pro Football Reference. However, in his career, he’s recorded 928 catches for 12,291 yards and 83 touchdowns. On the all-time list of receiving yards, he ranks 24th overall. While his career has been luxurious the question remains: “Can he still produce at a high level for an NFL team currently?”
It’s yet to be seen if he cannot produce but on the contrary, there’s no proof he also can. He’s still fairly young. Possibly out of his prime but his peaks last season for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were fairly high. To be fair, his lows last seasons were also fairly low. The main concern is his headspace and what energy he will contribute and bring to the team. He’s had a history of being cancerous to the locker room often splitting locker rooms up. Naturally, which makes many teams hesitant to sign him again. At the end of the day, Brown’s proven to be a future HOFer; it simply may be his playing days are behind due to his attitude and behavior on and off the field.
