From The Marvel Multiverse, Dr. Strange Is Back

At midnight on May 6, 2022, Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will premiere in theaters across the country.

Earlier this week, the May 2nd red carpet world premiere was available to stream live from Hollywood. Marvel fans tuned in to watch the star-studded red carpet event.

    Cast and Creatives

Directed by Sam Raimi, Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has an all-star cast. Benedict Cumberbatch stars as Dr. Strange himself. Other favorites gracing the Marvel screen are Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Xochitl Gomez. Michael Waldron wrote the screenplay.

What to Know Before You Go

Marvel describes the film as, “a thrilling ride through the Multiverse with Doctor Strange, his trusted friend Wong and Wanda Maximoff, aka Scarlet Witch.” If you know, you know.

CBS has created a list of what to watch before seeing the new Dr. Strange flick. Of course, the first Dr. Strange movie is a must watch. The Disney+ series WandaVision is on the list as well. And at this point, if you haven’t seen Spider-Man: No Way Home, you’re on your own.

The list also includes Disney+ animated series What If? Good news is, if you don’t have time to sit down and watch a whole series before Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, HypeFresh contributor Stephanie Garcia has broken down the crucial fourth episode. Check it out here.

    The Reviews Are In

Nicholas Barber of BBC’s Culture review gives a ton of credit to screenwriter Waldron. Barber says he has knitted together an immensely complicated yet largely comprehensible dimension-jumping plot.” Barber goes on to say, “[Waldron] has rightly given McAdams and Wong much more to do than they had in the previous Doctor Strange film, and he has incorporated lots of big surprises that the studio has managed to keep quiet about.” Ultimately, he gives credit where credit is due. In support of the MCU director, he concludes that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, “feels like a Raimi project to the core.”
