GloRilla, gets the key to the city added to the Memphis treasure pile. She was gifted with the key to the city during the annual 901 Day celebration on September 1, 2024, for her contributions toward music in the city.
With chart-busting viral hits like “F.N.F. (Let’s Go)” and “Tomorrow 2” featuring Cardi B, GloRilla-artiste named Gloria Woods-continues to rise in the industry. She recently did a collaboration with Cardi B on the song “Tomorrow 2“, which was a big hit and elevated her career even more.

When GloRilla received such a great honor, the commemoration of Memphis’s rich music history-901 Day-was just perfect. The young musician was given the figurative key by Mayor Paul Young amid applause from a rejoicing crowd, which spoke very succinctly for her connectivity with the city and deep influence she has been able to amass on the cultural landscape of the town.
What happened from GloRilla being some sort of local talent to a nationwide star has been nothing but remarkable: the artist scored three songs in the Top 10 of Urban Radio, something that hadn’t been pulled off since 2015 when Nicki Minaj had done it.
Along with that musical success, GloRilla has been noted for giving back to hip-hop. She won Best Breakthrough Artist at the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards and got a Grammy nomination for her song “F.N.F. (Let’s Go).”
She had the crowd amped during a brief, but energetic performance at the 901 Day celebration. Next, GloRilla will make her first appearance at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards on September 11, 2024. She has three nominations.
Getting the key to Memphis places GloRilla in good company, considering Drake received the key to Shelby County earlier this year and Yo Gotti did in 2017. The award is not only one celebrating success within the music industry but also a reflection of pride in local talent by Memphis and its commitment to honoring those that shine a light on the city.
