Grace Jabbari Drops Federal Lawsuit Against Ex-Boyfriend Jonathan Majors

Grace Jabbari has dropped her federal lawsuit against her ex-boyfriend, actor Jonathan Majors. The lawsuit filed against Majors for assault, defamation, and malicious prosecution was dismissed with prejudice, meaning it cannot be filed again, on November 21, 2024. This acts as closure to a contentious chapter in their legal disputes that have drawn widespread public attention.

The volatile relationship between Majors and Jabbari started in 2021 while filming Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Their personal woes became very public after an incident in March of this year, which Jabbari alleges saw Majors physically assault her, saying he broke her finger, twisted her arm behind her back and struck her in a backseat tussle. This is also the incident anchoring both the criminal charges and the federal lawsuit that followed.

Jabbari filed her lawsuit in March 2024, citing a pattern of abuse by Majors throughout their relationship. She accused him of perpetuating a media campaign with the goal of smearing her once they broke up. He has continued to deny these allegations.

In December 2023, after the incident in March of the same year, a jury found Majors guilty of misdemeanor assault and harassment. Majors avoided jail time but was sentenced to 52 weeks of domestic violence intervention classes and mental health counseling.

A federal lawsuit filed by Jabbari shortly after the conviction alleged additional counts of battery, emotional distress, and defamation. That case took an unexpected turn when it was dismissed this November. The filing to dismiss was jointly made by both parties, though no official reason for the dismissal has been disclosed.

Grace Jabbari has demonstrated tremendous courage through this excruciating and excruciatingly painful process,” said Jabbari’s lawyer, Brittany Henderson, in response to a request for comment about the resolution. “Grace’s steadfast commitment to justice has resulted in the favorable settlement of her lawsuit against Jonathan Majors. We pray she can now put this dark chapter in her life to rest and move forward with her head high.” There was no immediate public comment from representatives for Majors.

Many legal fights truly have taken quite a large chomp out of Jonathan Majors’ career. Once the rising star in Hollywood, he had been booted from Kang the Conqueror in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and dropped by both his management and PR teams. Despite these various incidents, Majors remains set on securing his career and personal life back together. He is set to star in the upcoming horror movie Merciless and has just announced his engagement to actress Meagan Good.

The dismissal of the case presents a defined turning point for the parties concerned, although the exact reason for the decision is not quite as clear. What it seems to amount to, in essence, is an opportunity for Majors to move on, both professionally and personally, while for Jabbari, this chapter is over in her journey for justice. Such kind of legal disputes underscores the fact that everyone who is involved in such kind of case would be very aware of just how emotionally and reputationally costing such a case can be.

This’s just a high-profile reminder of just how complicated things get when domestic violence allegations come up, and just how much seeking support is needed. The National Domestic Violence Hotline would make confidential help available to survivors in finding safety and support: 800-799-7233, or visit online at thehotline.org.
