Memphis Grizzlies star PG Ja Morant responded in regards to NBA legend and Hall of Famer Charles Barkley via Twitter. Barkley commented on Morant’s leadership by stating that he “doesn’t make his teammates better.”

While some agree with Barkley others do not, including Morant himself. Morant has proven to be one of the best PGs in the league. However, he hasn’t had much playoff success due to his surrounding talent. In a short amount of time, he’s eclipsed John Wall, Derrick Rose, Russell Westbrook, and several others. Ironically, he’s also built similarly and has an athletic playstyle.
While he’s proven to be one of the best players in the league, Barkley continues to want to push him to be great. Sadly, Morant and the Grizzlies lost one of their prominent guards in the backcourt to injury. Recently, losing to the New Orleans Pelicans without their full backcourt led Barkley to believe that Morant didn’t elevate his players around him.
In spite of the small success, Morant made it clear that the Grizzlies will not be “ducking any smoke.”
If it’s one thing for certain and one thing for sure, Morant has gotten into it with players, coaches, and even fans over his team. He’s displayed tons of courage and strength to even go at someone like Barkley.
