Philadelphia rapper YBC Dul, whose real name was Abdul Vicks, hailed from the camp of the Young Bag Chasers. He is reportedly shot dead in Olney, Philadelphia, on Friday afternoon. The incident happened at around 3:34 pm on August 23, 2024 near the 5500 block of North 6th Street. YBC Dul had gunshots to his chest and hand. The police pronounced him dead soon after arrival at a nearby hospital, despite efforts to save his life.
YBC Dul became known for his activity in local beefs and conflicts. In 2021, a member of the YBC gang was involved in the killing of two young boys. One of them, 16-year-old Kalin Johnson, was killed in a deadly ambush on a group of teenagers.
Shockingly, members of the gang set about provoking Johnson’s grieving mother, gloating over his killing in their rap songs. YBC Dul himself went viral after allegedly desecrating the grave of a rival. His actions ratcheted up tensions between YBC and a coalition of other gangs against them, resulting in further violence and loss of life.
On the statement by the mother of YBC Dul’s slain opponent, K3, she expressed sadness and frustration. She said that if their friends had not egged him on—in exactly the wrong way—K3 would be alive today. In mentioning “No Autotune,” maybe refers to Chicago rapper Lil Durk, who has himself been plugged into trouble with controversy and violence within his work.
Mom of Philly rapper YBC Dul’s deceased Opp K3 reacts to his murder:
