Spinabenz, a rapper from Jacksonville, Florida, has been sentenced to six months in jail for tampering with his court-ordered ankle monitor. The rapper, whose real name is Noah Williams, was arrested last August after he left his residence for less than an hour. This triggered the GPS device he had been wearing since 2021.
Spinabenz started his musical journey at 15 and officially debuted in 2018 with the song “Blue Hundreds.” He gained popularity as one of the artists behind the 2021 viral hit “Who I Smoke,” which featured lyrics about real-life crimes and sampled Vanessa Carlton’s “A Thousand Miles.” The song became popular on TikTok, leading to over 380,000 subscriptions on his YouTube channel. Some of his other popular songs include “Drill Time”, “First Week Out,” and “No More Parties On Sundays.” He has collaborated with artists like Yungeen Ace, Whoppa Wit Da Choppa, and FastMoney Goon. He has already launched two music albums, “King Leonidas” and “KU Lyfe“. Spinabenz’s net worth as of 2022 is around $1 million.
However, his musical success was overshadowed by his legal troubles. In 2021, Spinabenz was charged with firearm possession. He was a convicted felon and also a gang member, which made the charge a second-degree felony. This particular offense is punishable by up to 15 years of imprisonment. After he was charged, he was released on bond but ordered to wear an ankle monitor as a condition of his release. In October, he was acquitted by a jury of the charge, which was reduced to mere possession, a third-degree felony.
Even though he was found not guilty, he still had to follow the conditions of his bond. These conditions included getting permission from the court before leaving his home. On August 23, 2023, he violated this rule by removing his ankle monitor and going out for less than an hour. He was arrested the same day and taken back to jail. He was sentenced to 6 months in prison with credit for 52 days previously served after pleading guilty to the charges.
Spinabenz has claimed that a Duval County guard assaulted him during the first two weeks of his incarceration. He said that he was beaten up and choked for no reason and that he feared for his life. He also said that he was denied medical attention and proper food. He has filed a complaint against the guard and is seeking justice.
Spinabenz’s fans have expressed their support and sympathy for him on social media, hoping he will be released soon and resume his musical career. They have also criticized the justice system for being unfair and harsh towards him. They have urged him to stay strong and positive and use his time in jail to reflect and grow.
