Jason Lee claims that he stopped a major story about Beyonce from coming out, and now Jay-Z’s been reaching out to him. He made the revelation on a recent episode of his podcast, “Hollywood Unlocked”.
According to Lee, Jay-Z and Beyoncé‘s people have been calling him since the viral allegations he dropped on Diddy and his pending case. Defiantly, Lee has responded, perhaps unwilling to go back on what he had been claiming all along.
He even says he has received calls from Jay-Z’s team, asking him to relent. However, Lee has made it clear that he would prefer a direct conversation with Jay-Z himself.
“JAY-Z, I know you’re watching because you got people calling me,” said Lee, speaking directly to the hip-hop mogul. He called on Jay-Z not to send intermediaries but to call him himself. “You can call me yourself; you know how to get my number. It’s gonna go viral, this right here.”.
Despite this, Lee maintains that he hasn’t received a single threatening call-a fact which would suggest, to date, the communication has been more about dialogue than intimidation. He’d also publicly made it clear that, in his opinion, this couple’s legal team was trying to silence him: “I haven’t discussed the allegations against Diddy on my platform, yet here we are,” he said, hinting at the pressure he feels from their outreach.
It seems that Lee pulled the explosive report about Beyoncé as a way of remaining discrete in a convoluted celebrity landscape. He knows the power of his words and the consequences that might come from affecting the public view about the couple. “I want to cater to her fan base,” he said, focusing on delivering hard-hitting, meaningful lyrics that speak to the audience.
