The Memphis Police Department (MPD) identified 21-year-old Jayden Dandridge as the suspect in the deadly March 22, 2025, shooting in which rapper Sayso P was killed and Houston rapper Sauce Walka was injured. The authorities have charged Dandridge with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and various firearm-related offenses and have obtained an arrest warrant for him.
The shooting took place outside the downtown Memphis-based Westin Hotel around 2:40 p.m. In footage released by TMZ, two individuals exited a white four-door sedan, later revealed to be a 2021 Dodge Charger 392 Scat Pack that was stolen, and opened fire in the direction of the rappers. The footage reveals Sayso P, real name Latorian Hunt, hitting the ground and Sauce Walka, real name Albert Walker Mondane, running for his life. Sayso P was pronounced dead on the scene and Sauce Walka sustained a non-critical leg wound and is expected to make a full recovery.
The attack was a targeted act and not an act of violence in the truest sense, according to the confirmation made by the MPD. The suspects and victims reportedly knew each other but the authorities have not yet disclosed the motive behind the possible act. The officers managed to find the stolen Dodge Charger just minutes after the shooting and it lent credence to the evidence against Dandridge.
A warrant for the arrest of Dandridge was released and the police are actively searching for him. In a bid to accelerate his arrest, the police have put up a $6,000 reward for any information leading to his arrest. Anyone with any information on his whereabouts is requested to contact Crime Stoppers on (901) 528-CASH or submit tips anonymously on the internet.
The unnecessary murder of Sayso P evoked sympathy from his supporters and the hip-hop community. Sauce Walka made social media posts to lament the loss of his colleague and buddy and inform his supporters that he was recovering. Condolences came in from the hip-hop community in admiration for the talent and impact of Sayso P.
The community in Memphis continues to be on high alert with the investigation ongoing and waiting for speedy justice. The authorities are calling on the public to report any information they may have in order to help apprehend Dandridge and bring accountability for the violent crime.
