Jennie Mai Has A Lot To Be Thankful For

Jennie Mai, The Real co-host, endured a real life scare. Mai thanks her fiancé Jeezy for pressing the issue. His compassion and genuine concern ultimately saved her life. Without Jeezy, she would have tried her own remedies to suppress the pain.

“I am very thankful for J, my fiancé, because it was his firmness in, ‘No, you’re going to the ER. We’re not turning the other way,’ where I was like okay, I obliged,” she admits. “Because if it were just me, I wouldn’t have made my way to the ER. I would have made my way out to the parking and to go home to just, I don’t know, take something to suppress it to get through another day.

Mai Reflects on Her Health Scare

Her emergency situation led to an early departure from competition for Dancing with the Stars. Mai was suffering physically and mentally as she came to terms with her inability to return to DWTS.

Mai explained that she “was devastated, mortified, upset. I was in tears and I actually fought the doctor to say, ‘Can I just at least compete in this week’s competition?’

After doctor’s orders, Jennie realized that she had to put her health first. That meant she had to allow herself to heal and recover.

Jennie Appreciates Jeezy’s Never-Ending Support

Jennie appears to be confident in her ability to lean on Jeezy. He was there for Jennie when it mattered the most.

“He’s such a solid rock for me, but I definitely saw it in action as this was our first life or death situation.”

Not only was Jeezy there when Mai left surgery, he communicated with her business partner Brandon, her family and team. Jeezy made sure that everyone who was important in Jennie’s life knew what was going on with her.

Life will knock you down, but it’s about whose there for you when you try your hardest to get up. Now Jennie is raising awareness about her condition, epiglottis, a life-threatening condition that occurs when tissue protecting the windpipe becomes inflamed.
