Luxury vegan shoes?
On December 13th, HYPEFRESH met with founder Dyandra Raye, at the soft launch of her Luxury Vegan Shoe line, “Jo-Anne Vernay.” The Launch event was a collaboration between Raye and Samsung to bring the shoe to consumers. It was also an opportunity to raise funding through Kiva Zip to help ensure the Brand’s longevity.
Raye debuted her new s/s 2020 shoe and was interviewed by Natasha E at the Samsung 837. During the Interview, Raye spoke about her journey into the shoe industry.
Dyandra touched on balancing having a full-time job while launching her brand. The young entrepreneur says she makes a point of having at least one rest day to make sure she “doesn’t go crazy.”
Raye also shares how she saw a unique opportunity in the market. Stating that there was ” a void in the market for sustainable shoes that were high fashion.” In particular, the void existed because the few sustainable shoes on the market were only at very high price points. This is were her line Jo-Anne Vernay comes in. Because not only does it offer high-quality, sustainable material, but it does so at a reasonable price.
Jo-Anne Vernay is a line of luxury vegan shoes consisting of pineapple leaf fiber that merges sustainability with style. Raye Admitted that this line was born after years of sketching shoes mixed with a newfound vegan lifestyle.
The brand’s name comes from Raye’s mother and fashion inspiration Jo-Anne. As well as her late Aunt Vernay, who vowed to buy her shoes one day. Jo-Anne Vernay holds a dear place in the founder’s heart.
Sustainable Living
“Harvested in The Philippines and manufactured in Spain, Piñatex is versatile, lightweight, and durable. An alternative to leather, this pineapple leaf fibre is dyed using GOTS standards and stellar agricultural practices. This material is the main component of our shoes!”
We value quality, unique designs, and of course, sustainability when producing and selling our shoe designs. Each pair of shoes are ethically sourced and manufactured from the materials to the packaging. Quality is a significant part of our mission. Our shoes are made in Italy and embody high fashion craftsmanship at an affordable luxury price.”
