Joe Budden reignited beef with former co-hosts Rory and Mal in a freestyle over Drake’s “Family Matters.” The good-natured ribbing comes after the pair very publicly left the show in 2021.
Rory and Mal had been integral members of the ensemble cast on “The Joe Budden Podcast” since day one. Their chemistry with the former veteran rapper turned media personality Joe Budden was a large part of the reason the show worked. But then, in 2021, the whole thing took a turn for the worst when some sort of falling out led to all three men going public about it. The specifics remain a bit hazy.

After their resignation, Rory and Mal made an official statement concerning their contribution to the success of the podcast. They added that it feels good to be appreciated in a business partnership by anyhow possible. After their resignation, they posted their own podcast titled “New Rory & Mal” on the same platform. They have their own following. Joe Budden continued running “The Joe Budden Podcast” with many new co-hosts.
Where Budden’s freestyle throws playful shade and keeps it one hundred, there remains to be seen what, if any, real animosity is behind it. Could this be further promotion for continued debate on the podcast, or could it be teasing at a potential reunion down the road?
Definitely, a diss freestyle is just layers over the beef already happening, so one supposes it’s entertaining, but it’s leaving one with more questions like what actually happened to create this schism between Joe Budden, Rory, and Mal?
