JoJo Siwa Could Be Poland’s Next Eurovision Star

American singer and media personality JoJo Siwa has just announced that she is in talks over the possibility of representing Poland in the Eurovision Song Contest. News that has somewhat shocked everyone, since Siwa is an entertainer from the United States and does not have any apparent direct connections to Poland whatsoever.

All of this started happening after videos surfaced on TikTok where Siwa had a brand new song with a retro Polish disco vibe that went viral, sparking speculations and fan campaigns to urge her to represent Poland at Eurovision. Such rumors were further fuelled when Siwa herself made a series of TikTok posts, acknowledging the opportunity and showing her great excitement about it – well, if Poland chose her. She even mentioned she has an idea for a song with Eurovision in mind.

During the weekend, the former Dance Moms star announced she was getting ready to board a flight to Poland on 1 September.

“Long story short, over the last couple of weeks, my song ‘Yesterday’s Tomorrow’s Today’ just has been blowing up in Poland,”

she said at the start of the clip.

“Funnily enough, I actually happen to be Polish. That’s a big part of my family, part of my ancestry. So I have been able to have a lot of fun with this.”

However, she teased that she would have to come back in the country sooner or later “and have some obligations” – possibly including some duties related to the Eurovision Song Contest.

“Somebody asked if I was gonna do it on Eurovision because Yesterday’s Tomorrow’s Today was going viral in Poland. I initially jokingly replied to the comment saying ‘Yes’, but now it’s actually become a real conversation,”

    she said.

Siwa said that, actually, one major hiccup that could prevent her from taking part is that she’s “committed” to a certain “project” which is set to take place just around the time Eurovision takes place.

Usually, Eurovision acts are announced in early months of the new year, where each goes onto spend a number of months doing promotion and rehearsals for the contest which airs on the TV in May.

“I may be able to do both if Poland wants me to do it. If Poland wants me to represent, I will be there. I will make it happen, 1000 percent,”

    she promised.

Siwa’s involvement is intriguing because Eurovision has always had participants from within the continent, and yet Siwa is American. She qualifies to represent the country because of her Polish heritage. If true, this may well mark a significant crossover moment for Eurovision because Siwa would bring her global following and her signature pop style to one of Europe’s best-loved and most hard-fought stages.

The Polish Eurovision representative has already been selected for the year 2024, and that will be the artist Luna. This means that if Siwa were to participate, it would likely be for the 2025 contest. Though very exciting, it is not clear how serious these discussions are, or if this is part of some greater promotional strategy.

Of course, JoJo Siwa is boisterous, and her more recent rise as an LGBTQ+ advocate makes her a somewhat atypical talent pick for Eurovision, an event that loosely celebrates all things different and flamboyant performance. Whether this will materialize into an actual Eurovision entry remains to be seen.
