Kendrick Lamar Pays Tribute To Slain Compton Rapper Kee Riches

Regarding Kendrick Lamar, the rapper is on an entirely different level than his competitors.

In fact, most of today’s emcees pale drastically in comparison to Kendrick Lamar’s talents. A lyrical genius in his own right, the artist has recently been touring the country on his Big Steppers Tour.

Most recently, he graced SNL’s stage with a performance like no other. The rapper was joined by great legends like UK crooner, Sampha.

More importantly, though, Lamar paid a tribute to slain Compton rapper, Kee Riches.

Kendrick Lamar’s Tribute To His Fellow Rap Colleague

Rappers diss each other on tracks and engage in online feuds all the time. Though, at the end of the day, the hip-hop community is just one big dysfunctional family.

Back in September, a Los Angeles rapper by the name of Kee Riches was shot and killed. Many well-wishes and condolences went out to the family and friends of the rap star. Even Kendrick Lamar himself delivered a moving tribute to Riches.

On October 1, Lamar took to the SNL stage as their opening act for new season 48. He performed several songs off his Mr. Morales & The Big Steppers album.

At some point, Kendrick Lamar’s performance included a display of phrases that referenced the state of the rap community and various creatives.

Among the artists who appeared on the display was slain Compton emcee Kee Riches. “4 Peez Kees Riches” read one of the messages. Not only is Kendrick Lamar a rap G.O.A.T., but he knows how to represent the hip-hop community.

Kendrick Lamar created a moment during his SNL performance. While dressed to impress in a pink hoodie and black leather pants, the strange set design of the stage also entertained audiences.

Packed with a light show, a giant cube and moving displays; Lamar kept the audience entertained!

Even better, the rapper welcomed UK renowned-singer, Sampha, onto the stage.

Furthermore, the two performed “Father Time”, which featured Lamar delving deep into his troubled childhood. Their performance alone deserves a Grammy!
