Key Glock Says It’s Hard to Enjoy Life After the Death of Young Dolph

Memphis rapper Key Glock took to IG Stories this week to mourn the loss of Young Dolph. He says it’s hard to enjoy life after Dolph’s death. The pair had a close relationship that lasted both on and off the record.

This past year has been filled with pain for the Paper Route Empire MC and it’s hard to enjoy life after such a loss. It’s something he says is even worse than losing his father, aunt, and grandmother.

    He’s not okay

A week after Young Dolph was killed, rapper Key Glock says it’s hard to enjoy life after the death of his friend. The Memphis-based rapper, who was close with the deceased rapper, took to Instagram Stories on Thursday (January 16) to remark on the incident.

In the clip, he mentions how Dolph was known for making music that reflected the often-difficult complexities of life. He said the rapper’s lyrical style was “slicing open his funny, egotistical, emotionally-pained, money-obsessed, imperfect brain and transferring it in raw form through the microphone.”

Dolph’s death happened last Wednesday (November 17) while he was shopping at Makeda’s Homemade Cookies, a local bakery. As of now, no arrests have been made.

    He’s not happy

After Young Dolph’s death in November 2017, his family and friends were devastated, and the entire hip-hop community responded with a variety of tributes. Rappers like Rick Ross, Gucci Mane, and Key Glock paid their respects to Dolph.

In a recent interview with Complex, Key Glock revealed that it’s hard to enjoy life after the loss of his cousin. He says that it feels as though he’s lost his mentor, and his biggest supporter.

But despite the loss, Glock continues to make music and lead his Paper Route Empire label. His latest EP, PRE5L, is a great example of that. It features five songs with production from Tay Keith, Bandplay, Hitkidd, Sosa 808 and more.

    He’s not ready

The Memphis rap community has been shocked by the death of Young Dolph. The rapper met a tragic end when he was fatally shot outside Makeda’s Cookies on November 17th.

Since the shooting, the rap community has flooded social media with tributes to Dolph. His family and friends have also shared their memories of the artist.

Now, Paper Route Empire labelmate Key Glock has come forward to speak on his struggle with the tragedy. He reveals that it’s “hard to enjoy life” following Young Dolph’s death.

The young rapper, who joined Dolph’s Paper Route Empire in 2017, collaborated with the artist on the highly-praised duo project “Dum & Dummer,” reaching an impressive #8 on the Billboard 200 chart. They released a follow-up album, Dum & Dummer 2 this year.

    He’s not fine

Key Glock, a Memphis rapper signed to Young Dolph’s Paper Route Empire label, recently said it’s hard to enjoy life after the death of his cousin. He also hinted that he may be considering taking a break from music.

In an interview with Complex, Key Glock revealed how he found out that his cousin was killed and what he’s going through. He lost his family, mentor and biggest supporter.

He says it’s not easy to live with the loss of Dolph, but he’s still leading the PRE family forward.

Dolph was a big part of Key Glock’s success and his chemistry on their projects was felt both on and off the record. They collaborated most notably on Dum and Dummer, released in 2019 and Dum and Dummer 2.
