Though, some hiphop artists and critics have felt threatened by his presence. In particular, the young emcee has dealt with homophobic rants from the likes of DaBaby and Boosie Badazz, as well as others. Fortunately, Lil Nas X has a slew of allies who’ve supported him throughout all the backlash and negativity. Even rapper Kid Cudi recently praised Lil Nas X for his bravery.
Kid Cudi Praises The Young Rapper
Having started off as an internet troll himself, Lil Nas X is used to dealing with the haters. Though, it’s always nice to have backup. This past Wednesday, Kid Cudi wrote a piece for Time’s “100 Most Influential People” where he praised his younger rapper colleague. “There’s a lot of homophobia in hip-hop, and he’s going to challenge that. We need to support him. I’ll do whatever it takes to show him that he has my backing,” expressed Cudi in the article. Additionally, the “Day & Night” rapper deemed his act of breaking down barriers a form of “Black excellence” that deserves a wealth of praises, not hate. According to the veteran rapper, Lil Nas X has advanced the HipHop culture and changed the rap scene forever.
Lil Nas X Plans To Link Up With Kid Cudi On Deluxe Album
Furthermore, Kid Cudi also addressed the criticism Lil Nas X received for not including any black male rappers on his album. The 22-year-old himself responded to fans backlash by simply stating, “none of the black male rappers want to work with him.” Fortunately, Kid Cudi shared in his praises on Wednesday that he’d be honored to work with the young emcee.
Lil Nas X seemingly responded to Kid Cudi’s olive branch. Eariler this month, he revealed via Twitter that he plans to collaborate with the rapper on his deluxe album. The 22-year-old dropped his “MONTERO” album this past Friday. Furthermore, the album features a slew of huge female artists like Doja Cat and Megan Thee Stallion. Honestly, we’re already looking forward to the deluxe record.
