Kim Kardashian is always on the latest trends when it comes to technology, and recently, she left her followers’ mouths hanging while introducing them to her newest high-tech addition: the Tesla Optimus robot. On November 18, 2024, reality TV star and businesswoman Kim Kardashian took to Instagram to show off the immense capabilities of this humanoid machine, leaving her army of fans in awe.
Kim is flailing with excitement as she demonstrates what her new robot friend could do in a series of Instagram Stories. Making its debut to the public by 2026, at an estimated price somewhere in the range of $20,000 to $30,000, the Tesla Optimus did many things.
The robot’s abilities ranged from completing a heart shape with Kim’s hand, emulating running, to emulating the “Raise the Roof” dance. Kim summed it up in her caption: “Meet my new friend.” That was all Kim needed to say to describe her excitement at interacting with the advanced technology.
Throughout the video, Kim was visibly excited. At one point, she asks the robot, “Can you do this? I love you?” while making a heart shape with her hand.
She was left gasping in delight as the robot promptly finished the gesture: “You know how to do that?” She even taught the Tesla machine how to blow a kiss and engaged it in a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors. As it blew her a kiss, she exclaimed, “You’re so cute!” The ability of the robot to mimic her actions added a charming touch to the demonstration.
The fans didn’t waste a single moment when it came to reacting to Kim’s teasing interaction with the robot, and most went to social media. Teasingly, some described the Optimus robot as a “low-maintenance boyfriend,” while others were fascinated with the technology. Kim’s followers liked her eagerness to show the feats that the robot could accomplish, as shown by comments such as, “Kim Kardashian’s tech game is on another level!” and “I need one of these robots in my life!”
While fun to watch, Kim dancing with the Tesla Optimus showed where humanoid robotics are present. The robot can perform some pre-programmed movements and can also follow instructions, but according to reports, many of those moves are controlled outside rather than being autonomously generated. What this means, yes, is that the robot can indeed dance and jog, just not with the level of intelligence normally thought of for environments in advanced systems of artificial intelligence.
Besides showing off the robot, Kim also gave a glimpse of Tesla’s Cybercab-a very innovative car designed without a traditional steering wheel. That peek into her high-tech life, complete with big diamond rings adorning her fingers, was adding glamour to the tech showcase.
Kim is not the only celebrity to have interacted with the Tesla Optimus. In October 2024, at a Tesla event dubbed “We, Robot”, the rapper 2 Chainz tried his hand with the futuristic machine. It soon emerged that during this interaction, the robot had a Tesla employee controlling it remotely.
Kim Kardashian certainly sent tongues wagging with the Tesla Optimus robot. The robot’s playful interaction and impressive capability have captured the imagination of her fans.
