Chicago rap legend King Louie shows his evolution in artistry with new album Life With Louie. The Grammy-nominated artist known for pushing the Chicago music scene to new heights, releases an album filled with variety. Although an innovator and most say an originator of the drill music genre, this album offers more.
King Louie previewed the album with a private listening party Wednesday in Chicago. Surrounded by family, close friends, fans and other socialites, he expressed the concept behind the album. Chicago elite like artist Korporate and comedian Donterio Hundon, and Kyle Santillian from The WGCI Morning Show were in attendance. As well as producers and fellow rap artist the Chicago native has collaborated with recently.
Life With Louie is not the basic rap album
During the listening party King Louie played multiple singles from the album, while doing a Q&A about the creative process. King Louie described his album as an “evolution”, while exploring modern influences. Taking listeners on a journey, Life With Louie is a 10-track compilation of raw lyricism, indulgent rhythms and creative sounds. Staying true to his craft, he didn’t hesitate to include some drill vibes throughout the album.
Singles like “Rude Boi”, cater to the street anthem tones, while singles like “Mind Yo Business” show off the classic King Louie flow. Although a rap album, he took a creative route including TikTok inspired songs. Singles like “Si Si Senor” and “She Gone Let it, have sound effects paired with high energy beats making for a perfect viral TikTok jam.
