Latto and Brooklyn Share Hard-Hitting Truths About Toxic Partners

These may be aspects of toxic relationships, but they usually start with something called love bombing. That means it is manipulation by someone who showers a partner with so much affection in such a short period and then strings it together with belittling or intimidation. Latto spoke up about watching for the signs, stating they can appear anytime during a relationship. “It’s a cycle that can trap you,” she says, underlining how the initial calm and other overly kind gestures can mislead deeper issues.

Additionally, Brooklyn, who has carved her way through the beauty industry, shares similar sentiments with her sister: “It is important to be able to tell when someone tries to control you.” These easygoing and honest discussions during their radio show, 777 Radio, speak of the bond that exists between the siblings, a bond built out of love, filled with encouragement, and based on truth.

Her next album, “Sugar Honey Iced Tea,” is going to be out on August 9, 2024, and it specifically shows the path she’s been on through those troubled waters. The album shall surely stand as a classic in the South—hip-hop-pumped with strong lyrics that have already captured hearts within her fan base: “I want my music to give women empowerment and help find their voice,” Latto shares. Deep into her creative process, she says, is introspection aided by meditation and prayer—through which, she claims, God gets her through personal difficulties such as healing from the hurt of a toxic relationship.

This isn’t going to turn out to be an album full of songs; it’s more of a coming-of-age story about growth and resilience. Latto wants to give real lyrics that hit, identifying the truth in love and your worth: “I want them to feel seen and heard.” The need to just be real is what she is working toward.

Though Brooklyn’s life may differ greatly from Latto’s, it’s equally motivating. Out of the limelight a bit, she focuses on her beauty brand and passion for sports. She, however, has had struggles of her own that she speaks to Latto about at great lengths. “We talk about everything from relationships to our dreams,” Brooklyn says. Their sisterly relationship speaks to how support can get someone through the tough times.

The sisters warn against the dangers of social media, which can feed feelings of inadequacy. “You’ll never be good enough in the eyes of outsiders,” Latto said. What they do teach girls is to find peace within, which resonates deep in today’s fast-moving world.

She shared that, for Latto, the inspiration to uplift other women came from her own toxic relationships. She believes that community and mutual support will get them through. “We need to be honest with each other about what we have been through,” she says. The approach fosters personal growth and makes a supportive environment for others who have gone or are going through similar issues.

With the release date of “Sugar Honey Iced Tea” getting closer, a lot of her fans are just showing great zeal to get hold of Latto’s new work. In terms of a collaborative project with Brooklyn, she stated that at the moment there is just nothing in the works—that their guest appearances on 777 Radio once in a while show just how much alike they have gone through and illustrate how strong and resilient their relationship is.

In a world with toxic relationships, many of which go almost unnoticed, Latto and Brooklyn light the way toward self-awareness, support, and empowerment. Their journey reminds us that love should uplift and not control and that finding peace within is the ultimate goal.
