Anthony Edwards now finds himself in a legal and personal whirlwind with Ayesha Howard, the mother of rapper Lil Baby’s child. Recent court filings have now shown Edwards requesting a paternity test in an effort to identify if he had fathered one of Howard’s children.
With the Instagram name of “Little Ms. Golden,” Ayesha Howard has been in the media’s eye, going on for quite a long period of time, because of her relationship to the rapper known as Lil Baby. The two share a son, and relatedly to Lil Baby has kept her name within these couple of news years. Moving to very recent events, though, the headlines have moved away from the rapper onto NBA star Anthony Edwards.
Now, Edwards-who has been linked to Howard-wants to know legally if he is the father of one of the Howard children. The 23-year-old basketball star, fresh from his great season with the Timberwolves, has filed court documents requesting a paternity test. His legal action is an attempt to verify or invalidate the claims that he is indeed the father of Howard’s child.
Matters are further complicated by the fact that, just this past March 2024, Edwards had a baby girl with his current girlfriend, Shannon. Yet, his affair with Howard has re-emerged in the form of a court action as he works to determine paternity and accept responsibility, if the test proves him the father of Howard’s child.
In addition, Edwards has submitted an application for “an official declaration of paternity if the test shows him to be the father“. He is seeking an order for formal child support pending the results of this legal test showing him as the biological father. These developments set the stage for a tense court battle between the two candidates.
The legal procedure is supposed to take place as early as November 2024-a period that will coincide with the beginning of the NBA season and thus put further pressure on Edwards. His lawyers will be arguing that any resolution needs to happen as soon as possible, probably to avoid any distractions while he prepares for the high-stakes basketball season ahead. Should the paternity test come back positive, it would change Edwards’ personal and financial obligations forthwith.
If that was not complex enough, Edwards also deals with allegations from another woman-who has been identified on social media as Ally D. Ally D has publicly claimed that Edwards fathered her child, too, making his off-court life even more complicated. These various paternity allegations have painted a picture of a young athlete dealing with a number of legal challenges beyond the basketball court.
While the main focus in court this November 2024 will be put on Ayesha Howard’s child paternity test, other complications in court can still be present. To be sure, the NBA season is just about to start for him, plus there is the unresolved personal issue, so there is no arguing that Edwards is going through one of the most grueling times of his young career.
This is one of those stories that has also brought up the sometimes complex personal lives of celebrities and how, in a matter of seconds, news items of a very personal nature become front-page news. Likewise, his legal maneuverings have been closely followed by the media, as well as Howard’s side of the story. With a big name such as Lil Baby attached, some have even speculated about potential tension between the rapper and the basketball star, although no comments have surfaced on the matter with Lil Baby himself.
Meanwhile, Edwards’ and the Timberwolves’ fans were praying to God that this off-the-court drama wouldn’t affect his performance. How this will affect his focus and mentality when the NBA season starts remains to be seen.
