Pump has a history of uninformed or controversial statements and actions. Beyond his tax issues, he claimed that Kamala Harris isn’t Black because of her racial identity, when she was of African and Indian descent. On another level, his support for Trump reflects a wider trend that exposes some young Black and Hispanic men who appear to be provoked by this perception of a strong man pitted against an establishment on the rise with Trump.
An endorsement from Pump became met with huge backlash across social media, with many claiming the rapper was promoting policies that hurt minorities . His loud, boisterous public support for Trump and belittling comments towards the tax plan of Biden kept him within the public eye and continued fanning the flames on debates related to celebrity sway over politics.
