Twenty-one-year-old talent Lil Tjay has been detained and is facing charges of possessing a firearm.
The incident reportedly happened on Monday (Jan. 16), when the “Calling My Phone” rapper was on his way to film a video with Ice Spice when he was stopped for a traffic violation.
In the video below, you can see the arrest as well as how many fans want to see him free.
The information of Lil Tjay in possession of a weapon isn’t surprising, seeing as how the Bronx native was recently shot during an attempted robbery last summer. Surely the talented artist wants to make sure that never happens again.
The rapper was shot seven times while in his car outside a Chipotle in Edgewater, resulting in his hospitalization. He was reportedly comatose and breathing through a tube for a few days after being rushed into emergency surgery.
After making a full recovery, Tjay posted on social media in August to promise to return “stronger than before” despite the “difficult” circumstances.
I took seven shots, and it was rough, you know. Not many make it through, but I’m still standing. I believe there’s a purpose for me, and I’ll be back with new music soon. We’ll come back stronger than ever. Love you all.
Two days later, he released “Beat The Odds,” his return single, in which he thanked his fans for their unwavering love and support.
Additionally, he released “FACESHOT,” a remix to 50 Cent’s “Many Men” which was a warning to the shooter.
Currently, Tjay is being transported to an NYPD station to be booked. Once available, more information will be shared.
Do you think Tjay should be freed from custody? Do you like his music? Is “Beat the Odds” one of the realest Lil Tjay songs? Will he beat the odds again? What collaborations are you looking to see?
