Love Island USA Is Anything But An Island

    Definitely Not An Island

The reality dating show Love Island, expanded it’s horizons to the United States again for it’s fourth season. Love or hate the show, it never fails to attract many viewers who tune in to watch. This new season of Love Island USA is currently shooting on Dos Pueblos ranch in Santa Barbara. The previous owners, the Schulte family, recently sold the property. The new owners ultimately made the deal with Love Island.

Immediately after the property was sold, the new owners declared their plans to turn the land into an educational place. Repeatedly stating their intentions to preserve the native Chumash land. An article by Serena Guentz from local Santa Barbara newspaper Noozehawk states: “It’s very, very important to us to acknowledge the history of the land,” Alexander said. “We have to be very thoughtful about how that happens.”

The recent news of the show Love Island shooting on the property, completely contradicts what the new owners claimed they wanted to do with the land.

Moreover, neighbors surrounding the shooting site have expressed their concerns. In a short interview, one neighbor said “The nearby lights are so bright at night and the noise is quite distracting. Not to mention the constant vehicle traffic”.

Regarding new owner’s prior claims, another neighbor stated: “We were unaware that the new owners had this planned. If we were, we may have tried to stop it.”

The majority of shooting takes place at Dos Pueblos Ranches “Casa Grande”. The Love Island Crew has built an entire set around the house including other enclosed sets that will be taken down after shooting. The show was also shot at the private beach below and other various locations scattered throughout the ranch. They are even rumored to be shooting at a nearby neighbor’s house. By no means is the show shooting on an actual island. Does this news damage the show’s credibility?

Along with this, The Independent, a local Santa Barbara magazine, broke the news of Love Island’s presence in Santa Barbara. Jean Yamamura  stated: Love Island‘s marketing division describes the show as a “real-time dating competition featuring a group of sexy singles in a luxurious villa who must try to win the $100K prize by coupling up and surviving to the end.”

The previous owner Rudi Shuttle purchased the land in 1976 immediately declaring himself a “Caretaker of The Land” and he stuck to his restoration promise. After he passed away in 2005, his four children took over the property and managed to keep the land in its original state for more than 17 more years.

    Historic Location

Love Island continues to grab the attention of many viewers by sheer curiosity. The show encapsulates all that reality TV stands for. However, should the show be required to be more transparent to its fans? And, should the historic location of Dos Pueblos ranch be hosting such a raunchy show? Most viewers don’t seem to care about the show’s location or history. However, as long as Love Island provides them with content the show’s location dosen’t really make much of a difference.

Love Island season 4 recently ended declaring 2 winners a $100,000 cash prize. The Love Island set will allegedly be taken completely down as shooting is over with.

So, what do you think? Should Love Island be more transparent about the history and significance of the shooting location? Or, does it even matter? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
