Today, Masego is dropping “Mystery Lady” featuring Don Toliver, which is the last single from his upcoming EP, Studying Abroad. The EP will be out on Friday, November 13th, through EQT Recordings and Capitol Records. “Mystery Lady” is a charming and playful track, immersing you in a love-filled dream with Masego’s silky vocals and Toliver’s witty wordplay.
Studying Abroad is a concept experience that lyrically chronicles a relationship from sultry start to its explosive finish. The eagerly awaited six-track collection demonstrates Masego’s real-time evolution, with broader production choices and new collaborations. Sonically, it explores uncharted territory by sampling from an international palette of sounds and styles. Featuring an eclectic group of producers like D’Mile (Usher), Jack Dine (Stormzy), Jonah Christian (Nicki Minaj), IzyBeats (Mala Rodríguez) and Kojo Asamoah (Ari Lennox), who have their own unique sounds and influences, Studying Abroad shows a new and reflective side of the “musical polyglot” (LA Times).
To celebrate the release, Masego has announced a special live stream set where he will perform songs off Studying Abroad for the first time. Tune in on Tuesday, November 17th at 12 pm PT / 3 pm ET via YouTube.
Previously released singles “Passport” (Vice Music’s “Best Songs to Usher In Fall”) and “Silver Tongue Devil” (ft. Shenseea) will appear on the adventurous new EP. The tracks together have already accumulated over 6.5M global streams combined across platforms.
Studying Abroad is Masego’s official follow-up to his 2018 debut, Lady Lady, which solidly established him as a singer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. Since its release, Masego has been on a whirlwind tour, headlining sold-out shows and performing at festivals on every continent except Antarctica. The album achieved great success with listeners: the lead single “Tadow” has surpassed half a billion streams and earned RIAA gold certification. It became wildly popular on TikTok, featured in over two million videos. The project solidified his position as a rising star among talented Black musicians, collaborating with Kehlani, Dreamville, KAYTRANADA, and others.
