Mayor Adams Thinks About Taking Back Diddy’s NYC Key

Mayor Eric Adams is weighing the possibility of taking a historic step: the revocation of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ key to New York City. This was prompted by the release of a disturbing body cam video of a previous incident in which Diddy struck his former girlfriend Cassie.

Diddy was given the key to New York City in September of 2023 and hailed by Mayor Adams as “everything the New York City mentality stands for” due to his charitable work. The key implied that NYC had recognized the true value of Diddy’s substantial charitable donations and backing for dark entrepreneurs.

A few days later, on May 17, CNN broadcast security footage taken over a 2016 incident in a Los Angeles hotel hallway. The material shows Diddy hitting, kicking, shoving, and dragging Cassie, and then threw a glass vase in her direction. The shocking footage has appalled people and attracted widespread criticism.

After the video was released, Diddy confessed to the assault and made a public apology. He indicated in a statement, “My actions in that video are indefensible. My conduct is entirely my own fault.”

The antecedent lawsuit was also filed and taken to the Federal District Court in Manhattan by Cassie, whose real name is Cassandra Ventura, over the sexual and physical abuse she was subjected to by Diddy while their relationship lasted. In general, the lawsuit was filed in November 2023. It was resolved in a few weeks, but no information about the public terms of the arbitration was given to the people.

At the same time, Homeland Security arrested Diddy’s dwellings in Los Angeles and Miami on March 25, as part of the investigation into human trafficking. There are currently no criminal charges against Diddy in raids.

Mayor Adams, however, and his team are currently in discussions and deliberations about whether to pull the key from Diddy. This initiative will be the first time in New York City’s history. The mayor expressed he was “disturbed” by the video and added, “We are in conversations about the next steps and make sure the values in our city are represented”.

As the situation continues to develop, it is still to be determined whether or not the key will be taken from Diddy. The decision has significant consequences for Diddy’s reputation and historical New York City legacy. It will establish a groundbreaking trend in the way the city honors public figures.
