Megan Thee Stallion Confirms Intimate Encounter with Tory Lanez in New Documentary

In her new documentary on Prime Video entitled In Her Words, Grammy-winning rapper Megan Thee Stallion speaks about the most difficult moments in her life as openly as many have likely ever heard. The film, by Nneka Onuorah, is a raw account of Megan’s ascension and struggles from the highs of being at the top of hip-hop into an intimate look at her personal struggles: battles with her mental health, the constant public scrutiny she is under, and a lesser-known close relationship with Lanez, shining new light on their incident and his life in private.

It is the first time Megan has come clean, in a moment of vulnerability, about a past romantic affair with Tory Lanez, and this revelation has left fans shocked and altered the entire dynamic of how many people view this incident. She talks directly to the camera, candidly saying,

“I lied to Gayle King, b****, didn’t know it’d come back on me about that.”

She says this incident had happened “once on a drunk night,” which was all so short-lived and minor to her. Her unfiltered language and raw expression show a side from Megan that few, if any, have been exposed to through the media. This contrasts with some of her previous statements, where she had denied any romantic association with Lanez. She recalls the moment of feeling really, especially since the court case got more heated, and she teared up when Lanez was officially charged.

The documentary portrayed Megan’s emotional dilemma outside of the shooting incident. One of the most emotive parts of the film relates to her and her late mother, Holly Thomas. Megan remembers the gut-wrenching decision to remove life support from her mother back in 2019, a decision that still bugs her. The loss of her mother was shattering, and Megan describes how she leaned on close friends, particularly Kelsey Nicole Harris, for consolidation.

Harris changed from confidante to betrayer, increasing Megan’s feelings of loneliness. The multiplicity of her bereavement, loss, and betrayal makes for one of the strong points leading up to the life of Megan in In Her Words. Megan’s struggles finally did get to her mentally, and in 2022, she sought professional help. She opens up about suicidal thoughts and how draining it was carrying her own trauma around.

The documentary revisits her decision to attend a retreat for mental health; it was a turning point that heralded the start of her recovery process. This time out of the limelight forced Megan to confront her pain and rebuild her little sense of self, which the world showed in a woman determined to rise above her dark moments.
