Talk about wanting something out of this world! Wanna raid Area 51 anyone?
According to CNN, Over 300,000 people have signed on to a Facebook event pledging to raid Area 51 in Nevada in a quest to “see them aliens.”
Facebook event named Storm Area 51, They Can’t Stop All of Us has become an internet sensation.
The plan was written out by the creator of the event: “We will all meet up at the Area 51 Alien Center tourist attraction and coordinate our entry. If we Naruto run, we can move faster than their bullets. Let’s see them aliens.”
“Naruto run” refers to the main character the notorious Naruto anime, as seen below. So, that’s it. Decades of the alien mystery later, humanity will Naruto run its way to alien life!
Unfortunately, the event is fake. Fortunately, the memes are real.
The mysterious Area 51 has been nothing but full of conspiracy theories for decades. Many people think it’s where the US government stores its secrets about aliens and UFOs.
The area was officially acknowledged as a military site in 2013, but the theories live on.
Though the September event is most certainly a joke, it comes just a few weeks after a group of US senators was briefed about reported encounters. between the US Navy and an unidentified aircraft — literally an unidentified flying object.<
Facebook and Reddit really gave us the goods.
The owner of the Facebook post later made a statement regarding the popularity of the post.
“Hello US government, this is a joke, and I do not actually intend to go ahead with this plan. I just thought it would be funny and get me some thumbsy uppies on the internet,” it reads. “I’m not responsible if people decide to actually storm area 51.”
