NBA YoungBoy’s Neighbor Reacts to His Return to Utah With Sweet Surprise

NBA YoungBoy, whose real name is Kentrell Gaulden, is back home in Utah, and one neighbor is ready to welcome him with open arms and a batch of freshly baked cookies. The rapper returned to his Olympus Cove residence on April 10, 2025, after serving a 23-month sentence for federal gun charges and spending two weeks in an Arizona halfway house. His homecoming has sparked mixed feelings in the neighborhood, but Judy Zone, a local resident, sees it as a chance to extend some kindness.

Zone didn’t even realize YoungBoy was back until recently.

“I didn’t know Kentrell was here again,”

she said with a smile.

“So, I think I’m going to bake him some cookies and bring them over. He’s a very sweet kid.”

She remembers him as polite and young at heart, noting how he once called her “Ma’am” during a chat. They even shared a laugh when she admitted she hadn’t heard his music, and he jokingly replied,

“I don’t recommend it.”

But it’s not all warm welcomes and sweet treats. Zone has mixed feelings about the heavily armed security guards now patrolling YoungBoy’s property. She described an unsettling moment when two guards in bulletproof vests, one carrying an AK-47, stopped her on the street.

“It introduces a level of anxiety,”

she admitted, especially since the road is public and often used for walking dogs. The Unified Police have confirmed the guards have proper permits, but their presence still stirs unease for some neighbors.

There’s a bit of history too. Zone recalled an incident from a year ago when one of YoungBoy’s dogs attacked her own pet, forcing her to step in and protect it. Despite that, she’s willing to let bygones be bygones and focus on the positive. Her plan to bake cookies shows a neighborly spirit, even amid the tension caused by the security team.

YoungBoy’s return follows a rocky legal journey. Last year, he faced 63 charges in Utah related to prescription drug fraud and firearms offenses, alongside his federal gun case. After his release on March 24, 2025, he’s now on five years of probation, with rules like regular drug tests and mental health check-ins. The armed guards, while legal, are a reminder of his high-profile status and past troubles.

For Zone, though, it’s about more than that. She sees a young man trying to settle back into life.

“He’s really young, very kind,”

she said, holding onto her warm impression of him. Her gesture of cookies might just be the sweetest welcome NBA YoungBoy gets as he navigates this new chapter in Utah.
