It seems like rock icon Ozzy Osbourne is in some hot water after having knocked pop phenomenon Britney Spears for posting an abundance of dance videos on social media. The very public dust-up began on July 16 when Ozzy shared his dislike for the amount of time Spears was spending posting online during an episode of “The Osbournes Podcast.”
“I’m sick of seeing that poor old Britney Spears on YouTube every f***ing day,” Ozzy commented, voicing a feeling his family members have also expressed. His daughter Kelly Osbourne professed her pity for Spears, while his wife Sharon Osbourne described Spears as a “poor little thing.”
But Britney Spears did not take these comments lightly. The very next day, on July 17, she did respond with a long post made on Instagram. Spears has compiled a sort of fiery response to defend her right to aviate videos of her dancing while taking great fault with the Osbourne family for their respective comments. She called them “the most boring family known to mankind” and bluntly told them to “kindly f*** off.”
Ozzy Osbourne apologizes to Britney Spears for insulting her dancing:
“I’m so sorry, for making that comment. However, it would be better if you didn’t do the same f*cking dance every day. Change a few movements. I really do apologize. I love you and I think you’re beautiful.” PIC.TWITTER.COM/70E0RHCLMA

Spears’ post turned supportive, speaking highly of Kate Beckinsale standing up to social media critics after drawing comparisons between experiences that have been scrutinized by the public eye. “Kate Beckinsale stood up for herself against the critics, and so will I,” Spears proclaimed in her post, taking the themes of self-expression and mutual support.
But beyond defending her dancing videos, Spears took the opportunity to bring to light dance classes she was teaching for teens, stressing that there needs to be an encouraging community. “We need to lift each other up and be careful about who we let into our inner circle,” she wrote, also noting that growth and positivity needed a little nudging, rather than tearing each other down.
This exchange is indicative of the continued public scrutiny Spears faces with regard to her social media activity. She won’t apologize for dancing videos; she’s learned how to stand firm on the ground of advocacy in expressing herself and uplifting one another. Her response not only calls out the Osbourne family but reaches back, reminding everyone of the importance of supporting each other in the face of criticism.
Feeling some of the backlash from both Spears’ fans and the general public, Ozzy Osbourne has since apologized for his comments. This serves to portray an attitude difference in the coverage of Spears’s social media presence, gaining relevance in the greater discourse of personal expression and public perception.
Videos of Spears dancing have been a frequent point of contention among fans and media, as people are very divided. Some see them as a means of expression and joy, while others, as Ozzy did for the most part, hold a degree of concern over these videos. However, Spears’ continued defense and appeal for mutual support resonate with so many who have gone through the same judgments online.
