It’s about that time for someone to do a VICE-style documentary on the emergence of hyper-pop music. No lie this high-energy, fast-paced, and fairly new genre is doing astronomical numbers. Heavy-hitters like Playboi Carti and Yeat basically popularized the genre. It was definitely a matter of time till hyper-pop’s influence made its way overseas.
The New Wave
All the way in Paris, a young artist named Rozzy has been dropping straight heat as of recently. The first time you consume his music, his explosive sound will draw you in. Putting his own twist on hyper pop, he is one of the artists that is trying to help the genre continue to develop and not stagnate. Just last week ago, Rozzy dropped off his best release to date, titled VIRGO The best moments in this project come when he gets vulnerable and opens up to listeners. Like the earth-sign he is, you get to see his down-to-earth soul on full display.
The Parisian artist starts off the project with the intro track titled Trends. Big kudos to the producer named Slime Castro, who is responsible for producing this track and lending his talents to four other songs on this tape. I noticed that each time these two creatives join forces, they just never seem to miss. If you’re a music nerd like me, you will appreciate the quality of the mixing of this album. Everything is mixed to perfection. Rozzy’s vocals sound crystal clear over the vibrant production.
I think this project will be the one to open the floodgates for other international hip-hop artists in this lane. Just like me, many more Americans will be open to giving artists overseas a chance. That’s the beauty of music. No matter where you go in the world, there is good music to be found.
Big Dripper
The future is bright for the emerging Parisian rapper. When he’s not making music, he is heavily involved in the Paris fashion scene, showing he can’t be boxed in. It’s a very smart move by him because fashion and music go hand to hand, setting him up for success.
