Philadelphia Eagles clinch a playoff berth for the first time since 2019, thanks to young quarterback Jalen Hurts. This past Sunday, Hurts did most of the damage on the ground avoiding a handful of sacks from the Washington Football Team’s defensive front. The absence of Mile Sanders forced other key players to step up like Boston Scott.
Hurts ran the ball six times for 45 yards and he even avoided a collapse of FedEx field stadiums stans. The Philadelphia Eagles have won seven of their last nine games since starting 2-5. They have officially clinched an NFC wild-card spot. The Minnesota Vikings being dominated by the Green Bay Packers led to the clinching of the playoffs.
“We believed in ourselves, embraced our potential, and had faith in our hard work and daily approach,” Hurts expressed. “I’m incredibly proud of this team.”
Hurts also threw for 26 passes and completed 17 of them for 214 yards.
“Jalen was amazing today,” praised Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni. “We’re all aware that he’s battling an ankle injury and pushing through it. He’s incredibly tough. This guy has so much resilience.”

Nick Sirianni trusts in Hurts to lead the Philadelphia Eagles
Sirianni said Hurts told him to call him whatever plays he wanted and he would make it work, and the sophomore year quarterback’s poise was impressive. He remained calm throughout a very tense game. His poise continued after the game when the plethora of fans came tumbling down as he continued to take pictures and sign autographs.
“It’s crazy,” Hurts said. “It’s crazy stuff right there. That was a really dangerous situation.”
Sirianni displayed his confidence in Hurts several times throughout the game. He went for it on fourth and goal twice, ultimately, leading to two touchdowns. Eagles backup running back Boston Scott held the majority of the carries in Sanders’ absence. While the main goal has yet to be attained, the Eagles celebrate another victory. Hurts emphasized that he’s not ready to reflex on the team’s journey just yet.
“The job isn’t done for us,” he said. “We’re not done yet.”
