Philadelphia Eagles tight end Zach Ertz was officially activated off the reserve/COVID-19 list Saturday, per ESPN. Ertz returned to practice for the first time since being placed on the COVID-19 list early Monday. He will be available for play tonight against the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football.
Due to the league’s protocols, all players who are vaccinated and asymptomatic can return after proving two negative test results 24 hours apart, per NFL.com. Ertz played this last Sunday in a 17-11 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. He finished with one catch for six yards on two targets. This season, Ertz has recorded three catches for 40 yards. Ertz when he’s lined up against the Cowboys he has recorded 66 receptions for 641 yards and four touchdowns.
Philadelphia Eagles Prepares for Multiple Outcomes
Coach Nick Sirianni said he prepared two different plans based on if Ertz would or wouldn’t return for this Monday night game. The Eagles must be prepared for several outcomes due to the importance of this game and to optimize their chances of succeeding.
“You have to have double-plans out there. And so, without getting too much into that, it’s just everything has to be double-planned,” Coach Nick Sirianni said .”You need to support your desired formations. Are you aiming for 12-personnel or 11-personnel? Everything needs to be backed up accordingly. It’s just part of the job in the NFL.
The Eagles have already had a tough week decaying with injuries. Defensive end Brandon Graham ruptured his Achilles tendon against the 49ers and will miss the remainder of the 2021 season. Guard Brandon Brooks and left tackle Jordan Mailata both are out with injuries, leaving the rookie Landon Dickerson and Andre Dillard to replace them in Monday night’s showdown.
The Eagles activated TE Zach Ertz from the COVID-19/reserve list ahead on Monday night’s game against the Cowboys.
Ertz was placed on the COVID list Monday, but since he’s fully vaccinated, he was able to return within the week.
