Yesterday evening, the Pittsburgh Steelers drafted the Pittsburgh star QB Kenny Pickett, according to Brooke Pryor for ESPN. As the Steelers attempt to replace Future Hall of Famer QB Ben Roethlisberger. The Steelers were the only team to take a QB in the first round of the 2022 draft. Ironically, just a few minutes up the road is where they believe to have found their successor.

Steelers acquiring Pickett leads to the next line of prioritization. Would the Steelers rather plan to start their rookie QB going forward or are the Steelers planning to allow him to sit behind veteran QB Mitch Trubsiky the majority of the seasons and develop his skill set?
Steelers HC Mike Tomlin was very happy to land Pickett in the draft. In fact, he had nothing but high regard for Pickett. Tomlin explained how ironic it was to find their guy so close to the facility when they went traveling all over the country to do so.
“We traveled across the country, exploring and researching for the past few months,” said coach Mike Tomlin. “And it’s interesting, we ended up with a neighbor.”
Pickett’s Time in Pittsburgh
The New Jersey native had a draft party at his parent’s house. Apparently, as the familiar area code called Pickett’s phone, he already knew where he was headed.
“I know the area code quite well,” Pickett chuckled. “I had a strong suspicion of who it was. I couldn’t find the words to express my emotions. It’s been a lifelong dream, 23 years of relentless effort, and it all came together in one phone call. It was truly one of the greatest moments of my life. I’m thrilled to begin and collaborate with the guys who have been my neighbors throughout my career in Pittsburgh.”
While at Pitt, Pickett completed 62% of his passes, and threw for 12,303 yards and 81 touchdowns to 32 interceptions, according to Sports Refrence.com. He can prove to be an asset for the Pittsburgh Steelers going forward.
