Charli XCX, has just announced a career-changing move. The singer, whose real name is Charlotte Emma Aitchison, is hanging up her music hat to try acting-a new phase of artistic expression from being the angelic songstress as she treads creative areas far away from the world of music.
In her recent interview with Zane Lowe, Charli XCX declared plans to fold activities in music temporarily so she can focus on acting. According to her words, “It’s probably no music for a while. Like, quite a while.” Now, this is a major spin that she carries on her career blocks, considering the fact that now the focus has shifted into something else from what has been.
She elaborated on her collaborations with Lorde, the iconic album cover for “Brat,” and her work with Ariana Grande; these experiences shaped her artistic journey and influenced her decision to transfer into acting.
Charli isn’t jumping into acting blindly. She already has a few film projects lined up, including her upcoming lead in Erupcja, a film by director Pete Ohs. In the movie-which was shot in Warsaw, Poland-Charli plays the role of Bethany, who is embroiled with a Polish character played by Lena Góra in a complex and emotive plotline.
But that’s not all: Charli is also set to star in the sexy thriller I Want Your Sex, alongside Olivia Wilde. At the helm is Gregg Araki, from whom this new, provocative film-actual title and spelling, I Want Your Sex-is a brew of obsession, power, and artistry that is supposed to start shooting in Los Angeles this October.
So far, an ever-growing number of difficult characters shows that she’s really plunging in headfirst, promising surprises for each of them. Charli’s ability to stay true to herself while gaining a larger audience is a testament to her unique approach to creativity
