Former President Barack Obama has shared yet another curated playlist—a tradition that he’s stayed true to for several years now—for summer 2021. Some of Obama’s most popular playlists include his end-of-year compilations, where he ranks some of his favorite tracks from the last 12 months, but seasonal playlists give the former commander-in-chief more wiggle room in terms of how recent the tracks can be.
“Summer brings people together to celebrate, and there’s so much to enjoy,” President Obama tweeted on Saturday. “I’ve put together a playlist of songs I’ve been enjoying lately. The playlist includes a blend of timeless and modern songs, popular artists, and exciting up-and-coming talents.
The 38 tracks include some of today’s biggest hits like Silk Sonic’s “Leave the Door Open,” Masked Wolf’s “Astronaut in the Ocean,” and SZA’s “Good Days,” along with timeless classics like Stevie Wonder’s Obama stays connected to the culture with tracks like Drake and Lil Baby’s “Wants and Needs,” J. Cole’s “Neighbors,” and even Migos’ “Straightenin.” These songs even caught the attention of Cardi B, wife of Offset, and prompted a tweet. Additionally, classics like “If You Really Love Me” by Stevie Wonder and Smokey Robinson & The Miracles’ “The Tears of a Clown” are also on his radar.
I can picture Barack handling important calls like it’s just a little bit of sorting things out. 😩 Congrsts boys @Migos https://t.co/0zqLTnR16S
