RAYE’s New Album Delayed: Her Songwriting Books Got Stolen!

RAYE experienced a significant setback when her car was stolen, along with all her songwriting books for her highly anticipated second album. It coincided with the actual day of her 27th birthday, which did make her feel quite disappointed

She wrote emotionally on Instagram, “It’s my birthday and my car got stolen with all my songwriting books in the boot so no second album any time soon love you bye.” This news has left fans and followers in a sympathetic mood after reading it.

Despite this, RAYE has been inundated with support from both fans and musicians alike. Many reached out on social media with messages such as, “So sorry to hear that, Raye! We’re all here for you and can’t wait for your next album when you’re ready.”

Her fellow artists rallied around her, too, as Dua Lipa tweeted, “Stay strong, Raye!! You got this!!”, while Lewis Capaldi contributed, “Can’t imagine how tough this must be. Sending all my support your way.”

RAYE was born as Rachel Agatha Keen, in Tooting, London, and is a British singer and songwriter. She is celebrated for the power in her voice, plus the unique fusion of pop, R&B, and jazz.

Along with her solo career, RAYE has written songs for many celebrated acts including BeyoncéRihanna, Little Mix, David Guetta, and John Legend. Her path to stardom is lined with the likes of “By Your Side” with Jonas Blue and “You Don’t Know Me” by Jax Jones.

Her debut album, “My 21st Century Blues,” came out in 2023 and immediately received critical acclaim and even won Album of the Year at the 2024 BRIT Awards.

Following that triumph, she issued a single entitled “Genesis” on June 7, 2024, marking her first new music since making history at the BRIT Awards. RAYE’s path to success was one of determination and persistence, especially after all those struggles with her previous label that had delayed her album release for several years.

Raye has joined a list of musicians who have also seen their careers affected by respective thefts, including Drake, Lady Gaga, and Kanye West, in a tale of vulnerability with regards to artists’ personal and creative property, underlining support from both fans and peers as she moves forward.
