Hollywood heavyweight Ryan Murphy has made it clear—he’d jump at the chance to work with Taylor Swift. In an unusually candid interview with The Hollywood Reporter published on October 16, Murphy called Swift “one of the greats” and revealed that over the years, he has extended an olive branch multiple times to bring Taylor Swift into his creative universe.
he said, sending fans into buzz mode over a future tantalizing possibility.
Murphy’s love for Swift isn’t new. The producer said he has repeatedly reached out to her camp, looking for the right opportunity.
he said, conveying that the interest is serious and ongoing. Quite obviously, the idea of collaborating with the multi-hyphenate artist has been on his radar for quite a long time.
Of course, the interesting wrinkle here is that Ryan Murphy is also currently collaborating with Swift’s boyfriend, NFL star Travis Kelce, on his new horror series Grotesquerie. Kelce stars as Eddie Laclan in his first-ever scripted TV role, taken under the wing of Murphy himself. The Kelce-Swift connection has sparked speculation: Might Swift pop up in some future season of Grotesquerie? Murphy was coy, but the door was left wide open.
he joked, suggesting that Swift’s appearance could still happen if the timing is right.
Murphy’s love for Swift’s artistry was already shining through even in Grotesquerie, wherein a fun little Easter egg was hidden in Episode 3. The episode ends with Kelce driving off in a red getaway car where she hangs with her co star Niecy Nash-Betts- a small Easter egg nodding toward Swift’s album Red and her song “Getaway Car.”
Murphy shared. It is exactly such a brilliant moment that will be gleefully cherished by both fans of the series and Swift.
And he couldn’t stop raving about Kelce. A player born into a sporting family, yet the producer didn’t have one shred of doubt about the leap into acting.
Murphy said with confidence,
Anyhow, Kelce’s debut seemed to have won over his new director and fans alike, sluicing another layer onto the ever-growing public profile of this man.
Swift’s acting credits already include Valentine’s Day, Amsterdam, and Cats, not to mention TV appearances on New Girl and CSI. Given her history of experimenting in both musical and film projects, the idea of her setting foot into one of Murphy’s larger-than-life productions feels like a natural fit. Murphy teased further that there may be “more twists and collaborations” to come, which leaves the door on a possible Swift-Murphy venture tantalizingly open.
However, despite his professional enthusiasm, Murphy said he was “so shy” when talking to Kelce about Swift.
Murphy wistfully mentioned the public fascination with the couple’s relationship. The dynamic between Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift has captured the imagination of people worldwide, and Murphy seems acutely aware of how fragile that intrigue can be.
