In the best celebrity neighbor fight of the year, Martha Stewart just stirred some drama with some candid comments about her famous neighbor, Ryan Reynolds. Appearing on the Bilt Rewards’ “Rent Free” game show on November 2nd, Stewart teased a bit at the “Deadpool & Wolverine” star, claiming he’s “not so funny” in real life. But according to Stewart, the on-screen comedy legend has a surprisingly serious side when off-camera, a side about which she jokingly said isn’t quite so entertaining.
While talking with Bilt Rewards CEO Ankur Jain, Stewart was asked which celebrities people thought would be the most fun to hang out with. Reynolds’ name came up, and Stewart simply wasn’t buying it. “He’s probably on the list just ’cause he covers himself up in his movies and you don’t see his face,” she joked. Dropping the kicker, she then added, “He’s not so funny in real life. No, he’s very serious.” And if that wasn’t enough, she tossed in that she would rather hang out with Hollywood’s other golden guys like Brad Pitt and George Clooney than Reynolds. Stewart joked that her long-time pal Snoop Dogg was even a more entertaining hang-out option than her stodgy neighbor.
Not one to let a roast go unanswered, Reynolds clapped back with his signature humor on X. He took the jab in stride and playfully responded, “I’d disagree with her. But I tried that once. The woman is unexpectedly spry.”. She really closed the gap after a mile or so.” His cheeky response-credible to suggest Stewart might actually chase him down for arguing-was every bit the charming comeback fans expect from the king of on-screen wit.
For those who may not know, Stewart and Reynolds have been neighbors in Bedford, New York, for years and no doubt have surely become quite the friendly history. Stewart-who has in the past described Reynolds and his wife Blake Lively as “very friendly, very nice people”-has known the couple long before they were married. They purchased a house in the area, she says, in which classic Martha Stewart style, they did pop by her place regularly. This has been a warm, somewhat sassy neighborly bond that has provided a number of lighthearted moments over the years and which fans love.
