It was a day to remember for Timothy Bobrovitsky. He is a 22-year-old cancer patient. He met his idol, Selena Gomez, at her Rare Beauty office in El Segundo, California.
Bobrovitsky has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in his lungs, leg, and other parts of his body. He had posted a TikTok video in January, asking his followers to help him get in touch with Gomez. He said that meeting the singer and actress was his “childhood dream” and his “little Make a Wish.”

“I have Stage 4 cancer in my lungs and my leg and everywhere else. I need your help to make my childhood dreams come true,”
he said in the video, showing his framed ticket from Gomez’s 2013 tour.
“If you know anything about me, you know that I am Selena Gomez’s No. 1 fan, stan, everything, I swear to God.”
The video went viral. It got over 5.8 million views and thousands of comments. It even got a comment from Gomez’s friend Nicola Peltz Beckham. She said she had sent it to Gomez. Within 48 hours, Gomez responded to Bobrovitsky’s plea. She invited him to a special event at her Rare Beauty office. This is where she launched her makeup line in 2020.

The event, which took place on February 23, was a surprise for Bobrovitsky, who had no idea what to expect. He was greeted by Gomez herself, who hugged him and welcomed him to her office. She then gave him a tour, showing him her executive office, product development lab, and photo studio. She also introduced him to some of her staff and collaborators, who were excited to meet him.
Gomez also gifted Bobrovitsky with a Rare Beauty gift bag, which included some of her products, a personalized note, and a signed photo. She also gave him a Rare Beauty hoodie and a hat, which he proudly wore. She then sat down with him for a chat, where they talked about their lives, passions, and challenges.
Bobrovitsky shared his cancer journey with Gomez, telling her how he had been diagnosed in 2022 and how he had been undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments ever since.
