Serena Williams Discusses Common Parental Concern
The legendary Serena Williams shares a common fear with most successful parents. She is worried that she will miss key moments of daughter Alexis Olympia’s life due to her rigorous schedule.
In fact, the tennis icon has won four Olympic gold medals and 23 Grand Slam single titles realized that as a result of her lifestyle, she is often “being too busy.”
“I don’t know how moms do it,” Williams said. “Working a lot, I can’t imagine going back to their babies after a full day like most working women,” she told TODAY in 2020.
She said, “I’m lucky to have days off, so I can make my schedule and spend the rest of the day with her. But it’s still tough.”
Giving Birth Cured Williams’ Anxiety
Parents quickly notice changes in their lives after having children. Serena Williams was no exception. Having Alexis Olympia lessened her sense of anxiety surrounding her performances following tennis matches.
“And you know, having a baby might actually help. When I get too anxious, I tend to lose matches, but since Olympia was born, a lot of that anxiety has gone away,” said Williams.
Williams went on to say, “Having this beautiful baby to go home to makes me feel like I don’t have to play another match. I want the money, titles, and prestige, but I don’t need them. It’s a different feeling for me.”
It’s important that Williams caught her concerns early on. Fans are sure she’s still the best mom and woman she can be to her pride and joy in human form.
