Skai Jackson, the sweetheart of acting who scored big as quirky Zuri Ross on Disney Channels Jessie and subsequent spin-off series Bunk’d, shared some news sure to break a million hearts: she officially is a mother! The beautiful 22-year-old welcomed her baby named Kasai and let her very excited fans find out in all the sweet possible ways.
On January 26, Skai took to Instagram and posted an image of a tender moment: herself holding her newborn’s tiny hand, both clad in matching green plaid pajamas—a cozy moment sending her nine million followers into a frenzy. She wrote in the caption,
“My heart is so full. I’m so excited to start this new chapter in my life as a mom and diving into new projects in acting.”
Though she has not revealed Kasai’s gender or the exact date of birth, the announcement has sent waves of excitement from her fans and celebrities alike.
Skai first announced her pregnancy in November 2024, which drew a great deal of surprise reactions from her online community. She is now pregnant with a child since she has been sharing all the joys and difficulties that come with pregnancy, from baby preparation to pregnancy cravings.
She gave her fans a sneak peek on TikTok by posting a video of her already-packed hospital bag, complete with essentials like toiletries, her baby clothes, and a camera to capture those first precious moments.
“It’s big and filled up, and I’ll see you guys when I have my baby!”
She said with a big smile.
Skai was also not afraid to get real about pregnancy. She would sometimes make jokes about her cravings and weight gain, like
“I’ve put on some pounds, but you know what? I still feel amazing!”
That confidence and honesty resonated with her followers, especially those who could relate to her experiences.
With a newborn at home, Skai wasted no time letting it be known that her acting career didn’t slow down one bit. Currently, she has been promoting her latest thriller, The Man in the White Van, a very chilling film indeed inspired by true events, which came to theaters last December 2024. This is a major milestone for her on this road of different, serious roles away from Disney Channel’s origin.
Skai’s fire for acting has not burned out. She remains optimistic about what being a mother could bring to future work.
“I’m drawing so much inspiration from my mom, who raised me as a single parent,”
She said in one interview.
”She taught me how to be resilient and strong, and hopefully, I can set that same energy with my work and family.”
Skai has been dedicated to her craft, extending such work into voice work and other on-screen opportunities. She just wrapped up shooting the action-packed thriller Sheroes and has an ever-growing portfolio that includes guest spots on A Black Lady Sketch Show.
Since Skai shared her big news, the internet has gone abuzz with love and congratulatory messages. Her comments blew up on Instagram, full of fan messages like, “Congratulations, mama! You’re going to be such an amazing mom!” and “So happy for you, Queen!”
Celebrities took turns congratulating her, too: Keke Palmer and rapper JT of the duo City Girls left sweet notes. This stupendously positive response is a sign of the rapport Skai has built over the years with her audience.
Openly sharing her journey has given her followers a sense of being included in her life. Skai says she’s determined to balance motherhood and her career as she enters this exciting new chapter. She has spoken about the importance of listening to children and making them feel supported, a value she learned from her upbringing.
