Snoop Dogg has welcomed the iconic catalog of Death Row Records back to streaming. He has partnered with billion-dollar media company Gamma and his former Apple global creative director Larry Jackson to reclaim the label’s recordings.
Streaming is now available on Spotify, TikTok and other digital platforms
Snoop announced that he had acquired the rap label in an undisclosed deal last year. After acquiring the label, he removed the Death Row catalog from all streaming services “in a strategic move to organize the rights and rectify the royalty disbursement.”
On March 8, Snoop welcomed the music back onto the streaming services. He tweeted: “Yessir, Death Row Records is back streaming everywhere tonight. Thank you for supporting the artists, listeners and our brands.”
The music veteran’s new one-stop media company gamma was launched on March 8. According to Billboard, gamma has quietly taken a stake in the Death Row catalog that Snoop owns.
This new deal allows Snoop and his team to release more music, expand his brand and get the Death Row catalogue back on streaming services. It’s a great way to keep his fans engaged and generate additional revenue.
He also hopes that this partnership will help grow his brand and promote the music of future artists. This is particularly important for Snoop who has made it clear he wants to work with other music stars and develop a new generation of rappers, which he believes will benefit the industry as a whole.
In addition to bringing the Death Row catalog back to streaming services, Snoop and his new partners have plans to release new LPs from the label. These upcoming albums are expected to be released in the coming months and will feature Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre and other musicians from the label.
