At Tesla’s recent “We, Robot” event, music star Swae Lee made headlines with his unexpected duet partner named Optimus. The event was to show off some of the latest and greatest technology at Tesla, but things really took a turn when Swae jokingly challenged the robot to sing “Sunflower,” his hit track with Post Malone. Shockingly, Optimus rose gamely.
Optimus started off with a nervous quip, “I’m really nervous right now,” and then delivered in that robotic voice, “Needless to say, I keep in check.” Swae joined in, smiling from ear to ear, reassuring the mechanical singer that it was a “superstar” for its confidence. The two continued on through the performance, even Optimus adding some hand movements with the beat. It wasn’t just an entertaining moment but a tease into just how advanced Tesla’s robots have become.
With clips of his performance hitting social media, it didn’t take fans very long to react.
“We really out here laughing with robots,”
joked a user named jdot7ven on Instagram, while another user named btc_mewzik teased,
“That’s just the beginning they will advance more as the years goes on it reminds me of one of my favorite movies with Robin Willians called Bicentennial Man 😢I wish he was here to see this”
Some couldn’t help but note that Optimus’ mannerisms seemed oddly reminiscent of somebody.
“He talks and acts just like Elon Musk!”
noted one fan with username _gregkinney. Immediately, this combination of amazement and hilarity sent the robot’s performance viral.
Besides the jokes, Swae Lee was really impressed. In his post about the experience, he said that the robots were “damn near human” and could do damn near everything.
“These robots are NEXT level! I told Optimus to sing ‘Sunflower,’ and he knew it!”
Swae wrote, showing just how advanced the technology is getting. Fans cosigned- many said it felt like looking into the future, or what Swae described as “the switchover.”
The “We, Robot” event was not all fun and games; rather, it was a showcase of how Tesla’s robots, like Optimus, are pushing the boundaries. From fun moments like this duet to future potential, the tech sphere is abuzz with excitement, and it seems like robots might do more than just sing along soon.
