SZA Reveals She and Taylor Swift Have Discussed Writing Songs Together

SZA has given a hint that there might be a future collaboration with Taylor Swift by stating that Taylor and she have discussed co-writing songs. SZA showed respect for Swift’s storytelling and described her as “so bossed up” while appearing on The Jennifer Hudson Show. Fans are ecstatic about it given that there has been a long-standing respect between artists.

While talking to Hudson, SZA discussed her love for songwriting and her admiration for artists who are good storytellers. Taylor Swift, whose lyrics are very personal and narrative-driven, was a natural topic of conversation. SZA revealed that she has spoken to Swift about working together and that the pop star was “open to it.”

I told her that I would love to collaborate with her and make some things with her,” SZA said. “I love her storytelling. She was open to it. I think that she’s amazing. She’s really bossed up.”

It is not the first time SZA has gone on public record about how much she is a fan of Swift. In early 2023, while both SOS and Midnights were in competition for number one on Billboard 200, SZA made it clear that there was no rivalry between them. She even took to social media to compliment Swift’s album and said,

“I don’t have beef w ANYONE especially not Taylor lmao I really loved her album and the writing!”

Along with Swift, SZA also took time to enjoy other artists that she is a fan of, including Gracie Abrams, Lola Young, Doechii, Olivia Rodrigo, and Chappell Roan. She praised them for how they are great storytellers using music and reiterated that she loves great lyricism.

In addition to discussing her potential collaboration with Swift, SZA also shared insight into her future Grand National Tour with Kendrick Lamar. Both artists shared the stage previously for Lamar’s Super Bowl Halftime Show performance and are to take the stage starting April 19 in Minneapolis.

SZA opened up about how Lamar has been a mentor to her in terms of performing live and shared a special tip that has transformed her stage presence entirely.

“He gave me the advice of pretending to look at myself from outside,” she explained. “He looks at himself while he is performing and it really helped a lot. It was weird—when I was looking at myself from afar, I was like, ‘This is not what I would like to see. I would like to see something different. I would like to turn up.’ Then I just started calling on a completely different energy and spirit in myself.”

Their recent Super Bowl performance saw them sing “Luther” and “All the Stars” as a duet, giving audiences everywhere a preview of what they can look forward to on their tour.

SZA and Taylor Swift are still making waves in music. Both artists received ten nominations each for the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards, including Artist of the Year and Pop Artist of the Year. SZA also received a nomination for Artist of the Year, showing that she is still a force to be reckoned with in music.
