The Tampa Bay Buccaneers found themselves on the receiving end of a Facetime call with a high school basketball from Michigan. It all started, with an accidental message to Buccaneers corner back Sean Murphy-Bunting. The confusion ultimately resulted in a video call with the Bucs’ top players through Facetime. Needless to say, it was exciting for the kids to experience this interaction.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the call
The call initially start due to the mistake of number. However, this led to the students not believing Murphy-Bunting to be who he said he was. He later got future Hall of Famer Rob Gronkowski on the phone before passing the phone to another future Hall of Famer Richard Sherman. Many of the students didn’t expect to meet half of the Buccaneers roster. Let alone, the greatest quarterback ever, Tom Brady. Brady is also a notable Michigan alumnus so when he hopped on the phone call the group was in complete shock.
“They were amazed,” Fournette expressed when he passed the phone to Brady. “I mean, to guys in high school, Tom is their idol. You know what I mean? Who wouldn’t want to admire a guy like him?”
“That was sweet,” Brady said of the impromptu FaceTime. “I didn’t recognize the person. [Leonard] said, ‘This is my friend’ or something like that. It was pleasant. It would have been pleasant for me back in high school as well.”
Once Brady found out the kids were from Michigan he began to brighten up a bit and felt honored to have a moment to chat with the students. On both ends of that phone call, both parties were very blown away and shocked at the beauty of a classic mistake. We all make mistakes; however, we all don’t get to speak to our favorite superstars from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as a result of it.
According to P. Jason Whalen, whose son plays for the freshman basketball team at Notre Dame Preatroy School and Marist Academy. Here’s how it all took place:
The boys are like “yes, if this is XXXX.” The guy replies, “no, this is Sean. Do you know who I am?” Of course they think it’s their teammate messing with them. After some back and forth the guy says “this is @seanbunting_ ” and he sends a selfie in the Bucs locker room… pic.twitter.com/qdrbTzE0Fo

Naturally the boys are getting greedy now, and besides asking the guys to have big weeks for their fantasy football team, they want to see the GOAT!

Fournette stays on FaceTime for a good 10 minutes while @TomBrady finishes up a meeting. The boys are absolutely losing it during this. After some time passes he pops up on the screen and says “What’s up fellas?!?!” The boys lose their minds… pic.twitter.com/JBwTtsKrRg
