Colorful -and-controversial rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine is at it again, this time facing a lawsuit from his ex-girlfriend Yailin La Más Viral, who is accusing him of revenge porn, along with emotional and physical abuse throughout their rocky relationship. According to court documents, Yailin claims the Brooklyn-born rapper leaked explicit images of her on social media following their breakup, violating her privacy and inflicting emotional distress.
A Dominican singer and social media star, she is seeking more than $1 million in damages. Yailin says Tekashi shared intimate photos of her without permission, because she ended their relationship-a violation of New York’s nonconsensual pornography laws. The lawsuit further accuses the “Gooba” rapper of drugging and manipulating her during their relationship-and coercing her into unnecessary cosmetic surgeries.
But it doesn’t stop there. Yailin continued to say Tekashi used her money for his own personal gain, leaving her in financial ruin and barely able to provide for herself.
Taking a page from typical Tekashi behavior, the 28-year-old rapper has denied the allegations. He spoke to TMZ and fired back at Yailin’s accusations, insisting he supported her financially throughout their dealings.
“I put food on the table, I bought the house she lives in, the car she drives, and the jewelry she wears,”
he said, insisting that any money spent on him came from his own pocket. Tekashi is painting the lawsuit as nothing more than a way to smear his name.
The legal complaint adds a new chapter to an already tumultuous relationship.
After the success of “Pa Ti” with Tekashi mid-2023, Yailin and Tekashi were linked romantically. Things took a quick, volatile turn. In December 2023, Yailin was arrested after allegedly attacking Tekashi with a piece of wood outside his Florida home following an argument over money. Just one month later, Tekashi got himself arrested in the Dominican Republic for charges like domestic violence related to Yailin. Attention will be firmly on Tekashi, whose career has been marred by regular legal problems and controversy.
Revenge porn cases are growing increasingly high-profile thanks to movements such as #MeToo, and public attitudes flipped spectacularly in favour of victims. This time, the tough guy persona he protrudes online may work against him, especially given the sensitivity of the allegations.
This latest lawsuit only threatens to erode that already divisive reputation further, with his career hanging precariously in the balance. Will Tekashi’s fanbase be their man again, or is this the final nail in the coffin that takes him out of the limelight for good?
